Why do we like this?

Spotlighted vocals shine a light on lyrics that are raw and display great bravery in sharing. From the start, moodring’s “Poison” has an emotive pull. With superb guitar work that kicks in during the chorus, that pull allows us to get lost in the music.

It’s incomprehensible, really, that humans have the capacity to be like poison. At the same time, we have the capacity to fall on the other end of that spectrum too, bringing to mind the quote:

“If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being.”

“Poison” builds into a magnifiscent crescendo where the vocal layering that is ezquisite throughout gets its chance to truly standout. When speaking to the track, singer/songwriter, Charli Smith, said:

“Writing this song was one of my favorite experiences yet on this planet!”

And on that beautifully touching note, I will end this blog post. I hope you enjoy the track.
