Why do we like this?

A dark and bumpy cover of Colourbox’s “The Moon is Blue” takes a soulful R&B track and throws it into a pool of Victorian noises, eclectic electric sounds, and mournful lead vocals creating a noise pumping with nocturnal delights.

As we all know imagery is a very niche and important factor in my library of music. When I saw Future Islands dropping this cover I was excited, but I was not expecting this silky thick song to embrace me as hard as it did. It hits a very specific spot in my psyche – a spot mostly reserved for Bram Stoker, Lovecraft, and Shelley.

The song is a maroon-filled festival of turned-down industrial samples and a Romantic carnival slammed together and slashed through with that classic synth-rock noise Future Islandsdoes so well.
