Kid Cudi Confirms His Off-White Dress On SNL Is A Tribute To Kurt Cobain

Kid Cudi speak out after donning an Off-White dress on SNL.

It’s been a bumper year for Kid Cudi as the rapper has achieved quite a lot so far. Last night, April 10, he took to the stage of SNL and raised eyebrows not for his performance but rather for his attire. He performed two tracks from his latest project, Man On The Moon III. The two songs were “Tequila Shot” and “Sad People.”

It was the performance of the latter mentioned song that got social media buzzing as he belted out the track decked off in an Off-White floral dress with spaghetti straps along with a flashy chain. However, after the shock of his attire wore off, many fans soon realized that he was actually paying homage to the late Kurt Cobain. April 5 of this year, was the 27th anniversary of the death of the lead singer of Nirvana. He was known for performing in similar clothing, including cardigans and floral dresses. The most famous documented case of Cobain wearing a dress was for the cover of The Face magazine in 1993.

Kid Cudi also paid homage to the SNL comedian, Chris Farley. It’s not surprising that the rapper chose to make such a bold statement since he is also looking to jump into the fashion industry soon and is known for his provocative attitude. He recently announced that he would be debuting a new clothing line this summer in a collaboration with the brand BAPE.

He ended last year by dropping an album and has already announced that he expects to deliver another one next year. He added that the Ohio native recently announced that he had a Netflix series in the works.

In address the response from fans, Kid Cudi tweeted, “Virgil designed the dress for me. I told him I wanted to show love to Kurt w a floral print sundress and this man made a masterpiece. Thank You @virgilabloh ur a fuckin genius!! Love you man we did it.”

He added that he is doing a collection with Off-White and the dress will be included.

Swizz Beatz Beams With Pride Announcing Verzuz Is Bigger Than SNL

Verzuz bigger than SNL, says Swizz Beatz.

Just how good is the Verzuz platform? Well, co-founder Swizz Beatz thinks it’s good enough to rival the highly syndicated NBC comedy sketch series Saturday Night Live. That’s a big claim, but it’s easy to see why he might be feeling proud of all that the platform has accomplished especially following their latest installment of the show, which brought in millions of viewers from around the world.

He shared his feelings of accomplishment during an Instagram Live earlier this week with the other founder, Timbaland, as they discussed the huge impact of The Isley Brothers and Earth Wind and Fire battle. Swizz even thinks that the franchise has shot past SNL.

“We bigger than that,” he said, beaming with pride before adding: “Our numbers beat SNL already. Our numbers is bigger than SNL. That’s not even, like, cap. That’s real talk. It’s already happening.”

He also said he doesn’t want to rank the battle because it brought its own unique mark to the platform. What he’s more interested in is celebrating all that the two bands achieved and how many people were appreciative of their effort to entertain.

“It’s not about the best Verzuz,” he added. “It’s about celebrating the creative. So some nights we gonna have the Super Bowl, some nights we gonna have the Pro Bowl, some nights we gonna have the Rose Bowl. But we’re gonna have a good time,” he continued.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the next virtual battle, which is expected to be an ode to marijuana as Method Man and Red Man come head to head on April 20. Then it’s on to an exciting ’90s R&B square off, which will see SWV take on Xscape on May 8 at 8 p.m. as Season 2 roars on.

Alec Baldwin to Run for President?

He plays Donald Trump on TV, but does Alec Baldwin want to become the President of the United States himself one day?

The 59-year-old actor, who last month won an Emmy for his satirical portrayal of the U.S. leader on SNL, retweeted on Friday a cryptic tweet that may or may not be a joke.

“If I run for a President, think of how entertaining the debates would be,” said the message, posted on the Alec Baldwin Foundation’s account.

More than 3,000 people liked the comment. One person tweeted on Saturday, “I don’t want entertainment. I want a REAL president!” The post was retweeted on the Alec Baldwin Foundation’s account.

The actor, known for his outspoken liberal views, has been among the most vocal celebrities who has openly criticized the U.S. leader and former TV star—and his supporters.

“I have an immigration strategy: Everyone who voted for Trump, leave,” read a tweet posted on the Alec Baldwin Foundation’s account on Wednesday.

In 2008, Baldwin said on CBS’ 60 Minutes that he still has not given up his childhood dream of being a politician.

“There’s no age limit on running for office, to a degree,” he said. “Something I might do, one day.”

In 2011, Baldwin’s rep he would not rule out the possibility of the actor running for mayor of New York City.

Months later, Baldwin nixed the idea.

“I’ve lost my appetite,” he said on his podcast, Here’s the Thing With Alec Baldwin. “Plus the people that are running for mayor—I know this is terrible—I look at them and I don’t see myself in that crowd. They’re like a guy on a date that you can tell he just can’t wait to get his hand up your blouse before even the lights go out in the theater. They’re all just so horny for it. Horny for their own ascension. Whereas for me, I’ve got a job now…I’ve got a good job.”

Other celebs have also floated the idea of a 2020 political run—Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who jokingly announced his presidential running mateTom Hanks, on SNL, and Kid Rock, who teased the website http://kidrockforsenate.com in July.

“I give up money and fame and position and success, I give up this wonderful life I have now in exchange for the chance to really change things,” he said. “Yeah, I’m not quite sure you can anymore.”
