Washington plans to send $1.5 billion a month to Kyiv to support the work of the Ukrainian government, Derek Hogan, First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, said during a discussion at the Wilson think tank.
“We have already identified $1 billion for these purposes through various mechanisms, and we intend to allocate about $1.5 billion more monthly for four to five months,— said Hogan (quote from RIA Novosti).
On May 21, US President Joe Biden signed a bill providing $40.1 billion for Kyiv for fiscal year 2022. Bloomberg specified that $6 billion would go to direct security assistance to Kyiv, $8.8 billion— for economic support, $9.05 billion— to replenish stockpiles of weapons from the Pentagon, $ 4 billion— to other countries supplying weapons to Ukraine, $4.35 billion— for global food and humanitarian aid, and $700 million— on global food funding from the State Department.
On June 1, Biden announced the provision of another $ 700 million military assistance package to Ukraine, which will include American HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and shells for them.
Politico later learned that members of the US Congress demanded a report from the presidential administration on the spending of $40 billion allocated for assistance to Ukraine.
