Why do we like this?

You know those songs you hear that bring you back to one specific memory so vividly it’s as if you’re there? This song is one of those for me.

I live in Colorado, and I first heard this album while I was driving through a stormy summer afternoon in the mountains. I was driving down winding mountain roads shrouded in hazy fog and stopped at my favorite lake, Echo Lake, to pick some wildflowers in the rain. Their colors popped out so brightly to me against the dreary day. On the drive back, as this song played, a moose came out on the right side of the road, and I stopped as she crossed about 10 feet in front of me. And behind her, a baby moose.

The moments of slowness in this song reflected the pause I had where time stood still, and I watched this ginormous creature cross my path. And every time I hear this song, I relive that memory. I think that’s the magic of “Memory Garden” working.
